What's the difference between shop.3hive.com and warehouse.3hive.com?
Warehouse.3hive.com offers a large number of items from our warehouse, including titles and formats we don't carry in-store (such as CDs and DVDs). It has a much larger selection than our brick and mortar store.
Shop.3hive.com shows all of the inventory we carry at 3hive Record Lounge in Provo, UT. Local customers can place pick-up orders, and anyone can purchase items for shipment directly from our shop. (Some of these titles are not available in our warehouse.) Additionally, we have a Discogs shop that carries rarer items as well as discounted titles.
Do you buy used records?
Yes! You can drop them off in-person at our shop during regular store hours, Friday and Saturday from 12-8pm. (You can DM us on Instragram to schedule a drop-off during the week.) Please note that we rarely price records on the spot. Depending on the size of the collection you bring in, pricing time can take up to one to two weeks.
How does the buying process work?
We use Discogs (the largest online music database) to establish the value of your records and determine the price that we could sell them for in our shop. The value is based on the record’s condition, when they were last played, and the overall demand for the title. Please note that records rarely hold their purchase price unless the pressing is hard to find. (This means that, if you bought the record for $30, the buy-back price will be lower.)
Once we’ve priced your records, you can choose between receiving store credit or cash. We offer a higher value for store credit than we do in cash. We can offer payment in the form of gift cards, cash, or Venmo.
To sell, we ask that you fill out a form (available in-store) with the following information:
- Your contact information
- Condition
- When the records were last played
- Your expectations for payout amount
What are your store hours?
We’re open Fridays and Saturdays from 12pm-8pm for the next few months. We're taking time to simplify our inventory and processes, but intend to reopen stronger and better than before. Our online shop is open 24/7!
How often do you ship records?
Generally, we ship out records every one to two business days. This may change on holidays or if our online team is out of town, but our turnaround time is usually very quick.
Media Mail can take up to eight business days for delivery, but is generally much faster in our experience--two to three business days under normal conditions. If you’re concerned about delivery time for your record, we recommend selecting priority shipping.
Which holidays are you closed on?
Generally, we’re closed on:
- July 4th
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Eve
- Christmas Day
- New Year’s Eve
- New Year’s Day

Where’s the best place to find the most updated info about the store?
Though we try to post updates on our website, our Instagram page is the best place to check for holiday hours, in-store events, new arrivals, and more.
How often do you get new inventory in the shop?
Almost every day! We post videos of new arrivals on our Instagram stories.
Can I put a record on hold?
Yes! We can hold records for up to one week. If a week passes before you’re able to come in and purchase your record, it will be reshelved and made available for purchase to our other customers.
To put a record on hold, please call 801-900-3116. We also respond to our Instagram DMs daily if you message about a record.
Can I order an album for in-store pick-up?
At this time, you can only order albums for pick-up from shop.3hive.com. Our warehouse site only offers direct shipment to your home.
Can I order an album that isn’t currently available?
We can generally order in records not available in-store if it’s carried by one of our distributors. If a record is on back order, it can take awhile to make it to the shop. Similarly, if you’re looking for a rare pressing, you may have better luck searching on Discogs.
Occasionally, we get requests for records that have never been pressed on vinyl. You can check if there’s a vinyl pressing of the album you’re looking for on Discogs.
What if I accidentally put the wrong shipping address in my order?
If you need to change your shipping address, please:
- Call the store first at 801-900-3116 if on Friday or Saturday.
- If outside of store hours, send an email to help@3hive.com or send us a direct message on Instagram.
What if there’s an issue with my online order?

Are you hiring?
As of February 2024, we are not currently hiring. Generally, when positions open, we will post about them on our Instagram account (@3hive). Feel free to drop off a résumé in-store, or send an email to help@3hive.com.
Do you price match?
Because we are a small record store, we do not price match records from large distributors, such as Amazon and Walmart. Our pricing is based around the cost of records as we purchase them for our distributors, and are generally on-par with (or even less) than the prices of other independent record stores.
What is your return policy?

Do you participate in Record Store Day?
Yes! We’re open on our regular hours for RSD. If there’s a specific title you’re hoping to purchase, we recommend arriving at the store before its opening. We also post a Google Form survey to gauge our customers' interest in RSD titles, which informs our purchasing.
When can I buy Record Store Day titles online?
Because the purpose of Record Store Day is to promote supporting your local record store, titles cannot be sold online until the next day. Per RSD rules, all titles will be listed at 8am EST (6am MST) the day after RSD.
